Fnal Drive and Driveline Servicing
I'm quite familiar with the service needs of Valkyries, but am a little in the dark on my 2006 wing. The final drive hypoid fluid was changed out. However, what about the need for lubing the driveline splines, pinion cup, etc. I've looked through the maintenance section of the Service Manual and found nothing addressing this.
Neglecting these items on a Valk can be quite damaging. My wing presently has 24K miles. Any input is appreciated.

Re: Fnal Drive and Driveline Servicing
I too had the same question. That ended up being the reason I got rid of my 89 Wing... P.O. didn't maintain the shaft and the splines went south. My 2012 has yet to be serviced if there is such a need.

Re: Fnal Drive and Driveline Servicing
Does anybody service the driveline of their 2001 or newer 1800? Can't believe there isn't some information out there.

Re: Fnal Drive and Driveline Servicing
I just called the dealership local to me and they said that nothing has changed as far as driveline service goes. Is weird that it doesn't cover it in the manual but it is still a very important part of the maintenance. Guess I need to get mine up in the air and get it done as I have not had mine serviced yet and I am at 30k now. With going darkside, I won't be doing a tire for another 25k or more.

Here's a good discussion about this subject:salty1 wrote:I'm quite familiar with the service needs of Valkyries, but am a little in the dark on my 2006 wing. Never had to do it (yet) but I think it's not something you need to do very often, but like was said, if you're taking off the final drive to replace it, it's a no-brainer at that point. But taking off the final drive is definitely necessary to grease the splines.salty1 wrote:Thanks Steve! What has been your experience?

Re: Fnal Drive and Driveline Servicing
Whether it is overkill or not, I don't now but I was told on my 89 that every time you have the rear tire changed, it is advisable to pull the shaft and service it. Would think that is good wisdom since that is what failed on that bike that caused it to be retired.

Re: Fnal Drive and Driveline Servicing
I totally agree! I don't mind a little extra work if I'm changing out the rear tire or at least complete the service every 24K, which ever comes first. I know I'm not going to get that kind of mileage on a cycle tire.waituntilthebeep wrote:Whether it is overkill or not, I don't now but I was told on my 89 that every time you have the rear tire changed, it is advisable to pull the shaft and service it. I went "double dark" 10k ago and they both still look brand new. Finishing the build on my new bike lift soon so I will get it up in the air and do the rear section services.

That's the running post on it. I have done some more work to it and should be complete in a coupe weeks.
