1st Oil Change
1st Oil Change on 2015 Wing at 1680 miles. Switched to Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 10W/30 High Mileage. Using Stock Honda Oil Filter. Bike had 11 miles on it when it was delivered to my driveway. Old oil was VERY dark brown. Glad I changed it now.
Has anybody had any use experience with this brand oil? I've heard it's one of the best for the Wing Engine

Re: 1st Oil Change
Yes the engine is excellent and with proper maintenance is good for several 100,000 miles.
Type oil is a much argued point with some favoring dino oil and some synthetic. I caution you to use an oil that meets the specs in the owners manual and has the proper service rating. Avoid "energy conserving" oils/mixtures.
I have used Honda filters on my Wing since new, about 120,000 miles ago. I have had no problems. They can be purchased online for good price with HDL having a sale right now and the best deal is to buy a pack of 10. Plus you have them available for the next few oil changes.
I have never used Mobil 1 as I stick to the Honda stuff but as long as it meets the specs it should work well.

I used the 10W/30 SN rated Non-Resource/Non-Energy Conservation type. Meets the Honda Ratings as best I understand the Owners Manual for the 2015 Year Model. Will stick with the Honda Filters

Re: 1st Oil Change
Unless it is mobil's motorcycle oil (mx4t I think) it is probably energy conserving and not recommended for our wet clutches. I use mobil I 10w40 full synthetic. It is not energy conserving.BKTLST wrote:1st Oil Change on 2015 Wing at 1680 miles. Switched to Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 10W/30 High Mileage. Using Stock Honda Oil Filter. Lots of discussion on which oil to use, but I have never heard of anyone having an oil related failure no mattter which oil they use. Oh by the way, I use Shell Rotell T6

Re: 1st Oil Change
While the bike is still under warranty, I wouldn't deviate from the manufacturer's recommendation. Always use the type and viscosity, I believe it's SF 10w30 (going from memory here), as the manual states. Heaven forbid something goes wrong! I would also keep any receipts that could back up what you used and when the work was done. As far as manufacturer of the oil, that's your preference. Oil is like tires, you'll get 10 different opinions from 10 different people. I just get my oil from my dealer. The pricing isn't much different, and they have a record of every time I make a purchase. Plus I get to snoop around while I'm in there. It scares the crap out of the wife!

Re: 1st Oil Change
According to the Owners manual, rating is SL or higher. I used SN with the Mobil 1. Meets and exceeds Hondas recommendation. Haven't put any miles on my Wing since changing the oil yesterday due to minor surgical procedure that keeps me off the bike. Will see how the change effects, (or doesn't), how it shifts, etc..
Thanks to ALL for your inputs on Oils, etc. I wholeheartedly agree, it is a matter of personal choice, and as long as Wingers use what is recommended by Honda, (REGARDLESS of BRAND), these Goldwing Engines are FLAWLESS BEASTS!!

Re: 1st Oil Change
Actually, I do not believe that it does meet or exceed recommendations for a wet clutch, no matter how it is for the engine. I do not see a JASO MA/MA2 certification on the pics of the bottle that you included. I wish you the best of luck with it, but if you begin to notice any clutch slipage, quick like a bunny, change to an oil for the purpose.
