GL1800 from 2001 and ABS

Post by urcaGun »

Hi, everybody !

Can't find any information for this cycle: is ABS installed on all moto from 2001 till now or not ?
I'd like to bye this moto only with ABS.
How to check is there ABS or not ?

Thanks.

Hi urcaGun,

Not all moto's have ABS brakes. Check for a gear like looking ring. Location: Right side of front wheel near the axle . Right side of bike is referenced while you are sitting on the moto. If you see that gear, your moto should have ABS. Front caliper cover should also have an emblem on it that says ABS.

Thanks a lot.

But many moto has cover on front axel, so there is no posibility to see is there pulse ring or wheel sensor... And rear wheel no visible...
Are there any other differences visible without disassembly anything ?
May be dashboard, pipes, etc...

You can tell from the VIN. I'm pretty sure this works for up to at least 2008 model years, maybe as late as 2010.

The GL1800 VIN will start with:

1HFSC47x

The "x" represents different features available on the bike:

47F Base model
47G Comfort
47H Comfort, navigation
474 ABS
47L Comfort, navigation, ABS
47M Comfort, navigation, ABS, airbag

When you start it there will be an ABS light on in the dash.It stays on until the bike moves.
If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.
