Noise when first starting or cold.
New to the Goldwing, however been behind the bars most of my 71 yrs. Recently I purchased a used 2008 Goldwing with 17k miles from the original owner. I love everything about the wing. I have noticed on a cold start when the engine is at idle. The noise sounds like a rattle, as soon as I engage the clutch the rattle goes away. Don't notice any rattle when engine is warm. Any thoughts?...

I'm on my 3rd GLl1800, and they all made that noise when cold.
It's nothing to worry about.......

My guess is you're hearing the cam chains. There are two tremendously long ones, one for each cam.
I'd guess the sounds are normal but have another GW rider take a listen. I've never heard of chain tensioners needing adjustment or replacement... but vehicles that sit for long periods seem to do strange things
