Saddle bag indicator on dash

Post by Dpkal »

I have a 2001 gl1800 and am on the road... I know I have the saddle bag closed but the indicator won't go off and it's driving me nuts!! I have slammed it shut several times and it won't go out. Anyone out there know any quick fix to this??

Do you know which latch is causing the problem ? You could try manually manipulating each latch to find the bad one if it is a latch. It only take four screws to drop the latch covers and unplug the switches in the saddle bags.
It could also be a grounded wire.

I have not played with it yet but it sounds like the sensor is tyed into the latch?? I may look at that today really fast

Excuse my English

(Yes) looks fit, and vices if they tighten, I had a U loosen on the cover of my top box, and on side case.

I haven't had a chance to really look hard at it but I was wondering if I in plugged it it would the annoying warning light would go away

there is a small connector plug on top of the inside of the saddle bag just unplug it and warning stops mine is due to a bent plate the sensor sits on and couldnt get it perfect again so this was the easiest fix for me

I had this problem with my previous GW. The problem is the limit switch not being open or closed ,when the lid it's closed . What I did : removed the 2 screws inside the saddle bag that holds the latching mechanism and sprayed the switch with WD40 I had o do this the second time but after that never had problem
I believe the input to the bike PLC it's wired normally open on the limit switch.
