Re: 2003 goldwing radio panel not working
Before buying anything I would consider sending the radio to Larry at: http://www.wingconnect.com/ to see if he could fix it. I think he prefers to be contacted by email through his website. In addition to repairs he does offer some upgrades.
Larry is not cheap but his pricing is very reasonable and he knows his stuff.

Washing the bike shouldn't have done it. The thing is made to be rode in the rain. Wouldn't have had the top shelter off lately would you.

maybe the main plug under the shelter has worked it's way loose. You might be able to take enough bolts loose around the bottom end to raise it up without taking it all the way off. If so you might be able to see if it is loose.

Fear not the "top shelter removal" task! First time I was intimidated, 2nd time I was fascinated. I agree with previous post, there are 2 big plugs underneath it and you can see them with a bright flashlight when you lift/tip up the rear of the unbolted shelter. I would reach up and unplug them and feel if there's any water. If water, remove the top shelter and investigate and dry/clean it all. If no water, push them back in till you hear/feel the "click" of a solid connection.
The Goldwing is designed to be ridden in the pouring rain and operate fine. Notwithstanding that, I never direct water to the top housing and in fact simply lay an old T-shirt on it to absorb any water, just being hyper safe I suppose.
I hope you get your audio system working again!

One more thing. Make sure one of the buttons is not stuck "ON". You may have flushed some dirt into one and caused it to stick. Gently pry each button up.

Re: 2003 goldwing radio panel not working
My radio panel suddenly stopped working after a waxing session on the plastic parts including the saddlebags. The next day, all my radio buttons did not work. I didn't put water on anything. I read a post by "Wayne" that advised to check the passenger (Push to talk) PTT button. Sure enough it was jammed, must have bumped it while waxing the saddle bag. I unjammed it and everything was instantly back to normal. Thank you Wayne!

The buttons are a carbon buttons covered by silicone cover if water gets under the cover the buttons will not work you will have to remove the radio and clean dry that area. A suggestion was made to send it to wingconnect.com I had mine reworked and sound was better and replaced the burned out light while I was in there. https://cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/gl1800 ... 287/105985
Might take some time to dry without disassembly best if you remove the radio.
