Michelin Commander II

Anyone run these? I had them on a 1700 roadstar and really liked them. I can find the right front tire size but the closest to the rear is a 180/65-16. What does the 65 mean?

180 is the width - 65 is the height of the tire from rim and represents 65% of the 180. - height is 117.

The 1800 is designed to run Radial tires.
The Commander II - while a good tire (I run them on my'83 GS850) is a Bias ply.

Some will say it will work - others say it won't . Michelin has released a statement disclaiming improper use of tires alleviating them from liability. -- Do what you want .



This bulletin from Michelin may serve to clear things up a bit, was sent to all Canadian Honda M/C dealers just this morning (probably same in the States):

As a reminder to Motorcycle tire Distributors, Retailers and Consumers, Michelin currently DOES NOT offer approved fitments for either the Honda GL1500 Gold Wing or the Honda GL1800 Gold Wing motorcycle.

NO MICHELIN MOTORCYCLE (OR PASSENGER CAR) TIRE SHOULD EVER BE MOUNTED ON A HONDA GL1500 GOLD WING OR A HONDA GL1800 GOLD WING MODEL MOTORCYCLE. DOING SO COULD CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHICH MAY LEAD TO ACCIDENT, INJURY OR DEATH.

Thanks for the info, so, you use Dunlop radials?
