Turning Stock stereo On

Post by landislawton »

I replaced the battery on my 2008 1800 Gold Wing and now I'm having a hard time turning the stereo on. Can anyone help me here? Do I need to reset controls or any thing like that?

Press the volume button and that should turn the radio on.

You may have to hold the power (volume) button for a few seconds.

Generally when one changes the battery the bike is disconnected long enough to reset the radio just as happens when you pull the fuse to reset it so unlikely a reset issue. I've found recently that using a 1/4"drive 10mm socket secures the battery post screws better than a Phillips head screwdriver. You're not looking to torque them down but they do need to be clean and secure or the voltage will be too low from the resistance of a less than secure connection. I used a screwdriver a few months ago and had all kinds of bad electrical issues from a single start to a dead stop and lights, radio and auxiliary stuff all freaked out. It was a clean but not a secure connection; I lightly snugged the screws with the socket wrench and all was fine. Just be sure the polarity of and any added wires is correct while you're there.

No Power To Radio & Key Remote Is Not Working

Post by landislawton »

Good evening all my Gold Wing lovers,

I have a 2008, 1800 that I just change the battery on. Prior to removing the battery, every thing worked fine. Now that the new battery has been installed, everything except, the key remote for locking/unlocking the trunk and saddle bags, the clock, and the radio is getting NO power. I have pulled and checked all the fuses with the exception of the 30 amp main fuse. I would be thankful for any recommendations on trouble shooting this issue.

You posted this a week ago, and several people replied, hoping to assist you. You never got back to your original post which can be found here.

Perhaps your solution is already there.
