LED Low & High Beam HL

Post by Fee34610 »

... just completed installation of SOCALMOTOGEAR LED Low Beam and High Beam on my GL1800. The result: AWESOME white bright light at night but installation was an issue. My arms and hands scraped and bruised from tight/cramped working area. I am so thankful my wife with her small hands were able to help!

But the lights are awesome!

The engineer responsible for designing the headlights and fairing access to them on the GL1800 would do best to not show his face around a group of GL1800 owners. :)

I would like to convert my 2010 Gl1800 but I wonder is the aggravation really worth the scrapes and cuts? I had all I could do to replace a burned out high beam.

... reminds me of going thru divorce... wouldn't recommend it to anyone but also wouldn't take anything for the experience.

my low beam lights are on they're way! i loved my socal HIDs i had on my 1500, but really looking forward to these new LEDs. because of my meathooks i opted to just go with the low beams for now.
 I know people say we spend too much money on our rides, but I can't hear them when I'm 1000 miles away!

Whenever I need to work on the high beams, I just remove the shelter. A little more work but a lot less wear and tear on the hands and arms.

Have to agree with you Mike that removing the shelter is extra work. The extra working space it provides somewhat ensures they are installed right and that the wires secured properly.

Does anyone know if the Socal LEDs will work OK with a Kisan headlight modulator? I would like use them but I wouldn't want to give up my modulators ....

If the product at the link below is the same product you mentioned in your post I believe the answer is yes. If your still not sure their is contact info on the site. When I posed questions I received very quick responses.

Your link was incomplete. The complete link is http://www.socalmotogear.com/product-p/ ... (led).html
The modulator that you are using now with your Halogen bulbs will not work properly with the LED bulbs. You would need to replace it with the LED Modulator shown in the link above.

I am using that Kisan LED-specific modulator with the Socal LED headlights on my GL1500 right now, and it works great.
