2002 3.5mm plug in aux in the left pocket?

Post by Davek80514 »

I'd was told that under the left pocket should be a 3.5mm plug that connects to aux on radio. I can't find it. Was I misinformed?

There is a connector under the pocket where you can plug one in. That pigtail with a 3.5 mm female receptacle came with the bike when it was new. It was in a plastic bag with the owners manual. The original owner may have it or maybe it is still in the left saddle bag with the owners manual. Take a look there. If not, you can buy one from Cyclemax for $15.00 http://cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/gl1800_ ... le_/191520.

I just purchased a 2016 Goldwing. My plug was missing. Called the dealer they checked to see what level I had said it should have been in the saddle bag. It wasn't.They made it good.

I decided to order one from Cyclemax: GL1800 Auxiliary Audio Input Cable last night. $20.00 with shipping.

I believe that on the 2012 and up 1800, only level 3 and 4 come supplied with Aux cable.

I do not know about later production models but in my 2003 Owners manual, on page 96 and 97 it tells you how to install the aux audio input patch cord and where to find it to install it.

When new, the aux cable was not installed. Some dealers installed it, some ignored it, some tossed it. Some owners installed it, some lost it. So some bikes will have it, others won't.
