Replace fuel tank now bike won't start

Post by Rickmcdonaldod »

Changed air filter and also removed fuel tank to replace rear spring and now starter motor runs but bike won't start. Put more than a gallon of fuel back in tank. Tried to follow Fred's videos but may have gone off script as my confidence grew. Thought the battery may be bad but charged it up last night and getting at least 11 volts with starter button pushed. Just wondering if there is something obvious I may be missing. This is the first time I tried to start it this spring.

If this is for your GL1100, you may want to move it to the GL1100 section.

It is my GL1800. I was also on another forum and we figured I didn't hook everything back up and sure enough I took the top shelf off again and there was a grey connector just sitting there. Hooked it up and the bike started right up. Got a new battery out of deal. Thank you for your reply.

I guess you told the guys on the other forum that it was an 1800. Would have been nice to know here too. Hard to diagnose a problem if the beast is not identified. Glad you got it going.
