YUASA Man Date?

Post by Northstream »

So I just got a new YUASA battery, I tried to decipher the build date but was unable to find info at the YUASA site. Any body try to make sure their new battery was not sitting on the shelf for years?

I don't know the answer, but you could call them at: : 866.431.4784

If you make that call, would you please let us all know how to determine the manufacture date. I suspect the date is not all that important if you received the battery and added the acid and then charged or initialized the battery yourself. If you bought it filled and charged from the dealer or if factory initialized then the date could be more critical.

Well, Yuasa does not sell to Amazon. They are an out of network re-seller, apparently. No warranty, no build code break down available. Yuasa claims they have been unable to determine how Amazon gets these batteries. Buyer Beware. I will run this one and see how it goes, call it an experiment ( I got impatient and installed it , weather warmed up  )

Thanks for the NP info, but not applicable to motor sport batteries from big A.

I aam sort of stumped by the response! If it is a Yuasa battery, then the manufacturer should be able to tell you how to read the manufacture date. I don't think it is on the battery as I have a brand new Yuasa YTX20 right out of the box and I can't find a date. I will dig further!

I find that very hard to believe. All they would have to do is purchase ONE battery from Amazon, look at the plant/manufacturing date/lot number, and then look up in their own systems to see which wholesaler/distributor that battery was sold to.

Yuasa may very well be able to obtain, may already possess, battery routing to Amazon. Customer service is not being provided to Amazon buyers by Yuasa in any event.

I ordered a Yuasa YTX24HL-BS battery from SaskBattery on Monday and it was delivered today. For what it's worth, I connected my smart charger to it, and it had a 50% charge on it upon delivery.
I wanted to know the mfg. date and found this guide from Yuasa. https://www.yuasabatteries.com/wp-conte ... e_code.pdf That was a waste of time since there's nothing even close to that anywhere on the battery. So I called SaskBattery and was told that the mfg date stamping on the battery was only relevant to factory activated batteries, and that the main thing to consider is the actual activation date. They said that the batteries they ship are activated within one week prior to shipping. If that makes any sense, I'm not certain.

Something else to ponder.......................Dave :?

Not to get too far off subject, but I need a battery for my 08 and I'm a Yuasa fan. At a recent maintenance day event for my GWRRA chapter, several people told me that Summit Racing has a really good price on Yuasa batteries for the 1800, so I checked it out. The YTX20L-BS is $75 which I thought was a good price; Summit seems to be expanding into powersports and they seem to have a lot of stuff for Wings.

Was that the C3 maintenance day in Twinsburg on the 4th? I missed it this year, unfortunately.

Yuasa makes good batteries, I had a Yuasa AGM battery in my GL1500 that lasted over eight years (it was on a Battery Tender when the bike was not being ridden).

No, It was a combined M & I-2 event in Diamond (Portage County). I've had very good luck with Yuasa, but I always use a battery tender over the winter.
