Trouble removing front lower cowl

Post by MiWinger51 »

I needed to remover the front lower cowl on my GL1800 the other day. There were 2 push pins and six threaded fasteners. After removing all, the lower cowl still would not come off. There are 2 threaded fasteners that are longer because they go thru 3 pieces of plastic, the lower cowl, the inner cowl and one other piece. My lower cowl is behind that piece. From what I've read the lower cowl should be directly behind the inner cowl. With it being behind the third tab I can't drop it out. Question: what is the third tab and how can I get it moved to allow the lower cowl to drop out?

Al, did you get it removed, or are you not back from spoiling the new grand-daughter yet?

Corky, still spoiling the new granddaughter. She has stolen my heart. Going to give the cowl another try when I get home. I'm thinking when the aftermarket cowl was installed they somehow got it under a tab from the fairing. Gonna have to look it up in the service manual.
