Dunlop Elite 4's

Going to install my first set of Elite 4's this week after running Elite 3's for the last 30 years. What are the pressures that everybody is running? Positive/negative re views? BTW I will be installing a new 2oz package of Dyna beads in each tire. I have had good luck with the beads as far as eliminating the cupping I have gotten in the past without them.Thanks for any input. :)

I have nothing regarding the Dunlops, but I recommend 3oz of beads in the rear tire. 8-)

I have a fairly new set of them. Only 3000 miles to date but no complaints thus far.

36 in the front, 41 in the rear.

I only installed the front one so far but, per my friend's recommendation, I set it at 43 pounds. When I replace my existing tire on the back with an E4, I will be pumping it up to 45 pounds. The only comment I have about the front one is that it does squirm a bit on sections of highway that has grooves.

Put new front and rear on this spring and like them so far. Seem to notice the patched cracks in the road where they put a sealer along the crack a little more. I get a little wiggle when I run over them. 41psi front and rear.

Glad to know I'm not alone in noticing a wiggle over tar strips . I liked my Elite 3 tire better no wiggle with it

"Tar snakes" I was prepared for, but the the grooved areas of highway (in some areas here they do it for additional traction in curves) is what was a bit unnerving at first.

Must agree about rain grooved roads, the front tire has a center line groove that might be the issue but either it wore in a bit and stopped or I've gotten used to it, no doubt freaky for the first few hundred miles. I ran 70-75 mph with loaded trailer down twisty interstate to the desert floor and its heat before I even knew I had a flat (if I'd slowed down I could have made my next fuel stop and tire check).

I got 10,000 miles out of a set of them last year. They handled perfectly all the way to the end - and they eliminated my 40 mph head-shake problem completely. My only disappointment is that I expected to get more mileage out of them (based on their claims). I ran 41 pounds, front & rear, which I check every time I ride (through the Fobo pressure sensors I have installed).

I have a set of 4's on my 2014 wing. I have about 8k miles on them and have had the following observations:

I ran the recommended pressures on the stock tires. I noticed a high ridge all along the center of the tread. I increased the pressure to 41-43 psi in both tires.

I also installed centramatic wheel balancers, and there was an instant change for the better. Better ride and better handling. No sign of uneven wear. So far! I still probably have another 2-4K miles left.

I went to Michelin Commander II on the rear, even though it's a bias ply. Just replaced it after 15,250 miles of excellent performance. My E4 on the front has over 9,000 miles and has about 40% tread life remaining. So I expect over 15,000 on the front as well. No issues with running radial front and bias rear, and the bike handles great, and I am happy with the tread life.

36 up front is wonderful. 38 is tolerable, 41 is ridiculous. 41 with me 42 with the wife on the rear tire.

I just installed E4 for the first time this weekend with 2oz front and 3 oz beads rear. Bike had Michelin Commander 2 on it when I bought the bike in January. It had cupping in the front and major feathering in the rear. Couldn't get rid of it. And the singing was almost intolerable. I used only E3 on my gl1500 the 8 years I had it and those tires where great so I'm trying the E4 on my new to me gl1800.

I think Dunlop recommends 38 psi front and 41 psi rear. I usually run 41 both but may run what Dunlop recommends.

Lower pressures in the front generally result in greater cupping as the miles increase.
I run 40 lbs (cold), front and rear, and have had zero problems with cupping, and the ride is comfortable (it *is* a Goldwing, after all) :)
It's also interesting to watch what the pressures reach as you ride. I have Fobo sensors which help me see instantaneous pressure and temperature.
Front tire pressures quickly raise 5 to 7 psi (more in the summer), and rear goes up 8 to 12. FYI.

I run 44 in the front E3 right now.
it has about 15,000 miles on it with no cupping or feathering.

the thread is close to the wear markers, got a new tire ready to go when I want to change it.

My rear tire is "off topic", a Michelin 195 CT RF.

My two cents worth after about 600 miles with a new set of E4's.

No complaints other than what others have mentioned about grooved pavement. That's a bit squirrelly and slightly unnerving. Otherwise, I suppose not enough miles yet to have any other complaints. I had 10k on the original tires and might have gotten a couple more from them, but after hearing about some of the catastrophic events of getting a flat on a Wing and with an upcoming trip of 1-2k miles with the wifey, I didn't want to chance it and had them changed.

I put E4's on and have about 4000 miles on them, showing no wear on them at this point. My E3's that were on my 1800 when I got it were cupped bad and gave the wobble that everyone talks about. The new tires took care of the wobble and are feeling great. I put 2 oz of dyna beads in the front tire and 3 oz in the rear. I am running 41 psi in both tires. I have no complaints so far and am very happy with the ride.

I like my e's but the front tire does not grip as well as I like in the rain 41psi.it wants to slip a bit.rear is ok

Only got about 2000 miles on new E4's, seem to be good. Running 36/41 - front/rear with 2 oz. of glass beads in each. Not notices any problems or difference while riding over all kinds of roads.

Almost 10000 on my E 4's now with no issues. Still 36 in the front and 41 in the rear. Still plenty of tread.
