2005 Engine Ticking

Post by jcarm »

My engine is ticking and it's certainly louder than injectors. I noticed that when I let it idle and warm up, the ticking is much much quieter, but if I give it throttle, the ticking gets louder the faster the engine goes. Attached is a video I took of it this morning. This is stone cold fresh after starting it. I put the phone up to each side and it sounds just as loud (to me) on each side. I can't really pinpoint the where yet.

Is this a valve that needs adjusting? Something worse?

Could it be a fan blade?

Almost certain it's not that. If I give it throttle the ticking gets faster and louder.

Sure sounds like a valve to me. Time to adjust the valve shims.
