tps sensor warning light

Post by fdxhawkr15374 »

I have a 2013 audio comfort .When first starting out at the beginning of the day the tps sensor flashes for say 4 or 5 min even though tire pressure is where its supposed to be. Is this normal?

It is not 'normal' but quite common if you are referring to the TPMS system light rather than the actual tire pressure warning light. This light indicates a communication problem between the wheel sensors and the monitoring system. It is common for this to occur especially in cooler weather. Low battery voltage is probably the commonest cause. My dealer replaced both sensors (under warranty) on my 2014 and this solved the problem for a while but then it recurred within just a few months. On my bike the TPMS system light would come on after about 10 minutes of riding and then come and go intermittently thereafter. I do not believe the system will alert to a true low pressure condition when the system light is on. I felt like I couldn't trust the Honda system so I went with the FOBO Bike system and have been very happy. With FOBO you get pressure and temperature for both wheels displayed on your smart phone and it will alarm if pressure goes out of the preset range you enter. I think the Honda TPMS is marginally reliable.
