More than likely you have a bad ground - somewhere. The CB could be finding a ground through your brake light system - when you hit the brakes, the ground disappears and the CB shuts off. Does the CB come back on when the brakes are released?

Possibly low voltage from battery due too current draw from brake light. I have seen a lot of this when battery is about to need replacement. The processor in audio unit, controlling CB, does not like a drop below 11v.

Thanks. The battery is new and the volt meter never drops down.
