Have you put a charger on just in case?

With an auto, if your battery is good and all you hear is clicking, doesn't that usually mean the starter is bad? I've never really experienced this with any motorcycle let alone my two month old Wing, so I'm not completely sure now, but that's my best guess.

Is the 13.5 volts measured on the battery when you hit the starter or just after charging the battery?

I just came home and put it the shop and the next day I went to start it and the relay click I think I should
try and fine the relay and and see if there is power coming out to the starter or try and find out if the power is at the starter
and I don not know where the starter is on the left side or the right side would it be at the front or the back of the bike thanks for any Help......

I wouldn't think the starter would be bad because of the age of the bike bu g I guess it could happen.
Also the starter could be stuck. Put the bike in gear and rock it back and forth. This may help. I'm just looking at the easy stuff first.

Ok. Are the lights going out when you hit the starter button. If they do and they should the clicking is the headlight relay de-energizing.

Do you here the fuel pump prime itself when the key is turned on ?

Have you tried starting it with the clutch pulled in? If this works could be neutral switch.

Are you checking volts with a volt meter at the battery?

Is the F1 light come on when the key is turned on? I believe it should.

Could also be a bad kill switch on the handlebar. Rotate it about a dozen times and see if that works.

I did not come up with these questions on my own I got then from another 1800 Web sight but I hope it will get you closer.

Well, I know it is a beast, but one other way to start it is to push it, hop on, and pop the clutch while in gear. If it starts then the starter is the culprit. If not, I apologize for suggesting this method since you had to push this thing fast enough to attempt such a feat.

Start with the simple stuff, make sure that the cables, and battery posts are clean and tight, check ground cables. Good luck with it.

Remove the 2 screws, 1 on each side then remove the cover.

Mine did the same thing. Remove the left saddle bag and check the nuts on top of the two starter relays, One of mine the nut had vibrated completely off, sometimes it would start sometimes not. It 's like you said battery tested good, lights would come on but would not start just click. The relays are behind the battery and the only way to get to the is removing the bag. easy way to check is shake the wires going to them and if that lets it start that is you problem

With everything in normal ready to start mode you should hear two equally loud clicks under the upper front edge of the left saddle bag. There are 2 starter relays that carry the current to the starter. Starter Relays A and B are both identical and in series starter voltage and current passes through A and then through B (the one just out of reach aft of Relay A). These to relays are much larger than under the seat, I'd call them starter solenoids normally. If they aren't clicking loudly or only one clicks loudly, then the muted one is a problem. My starter button stuck a couple times and the coil in one of Starter Relay B overheated and melted enough to jam the contact plunger and it did the same thing. I bought replacements for both A & B on Amazon and had them in 2 days for under $20, replaced them and all was good. The starter on an 1800 is straight down under the fuel tank and you have to pull shelter and tank to get at it even to test it, but it in neutral and on the center stand you can jump power to it from the rear most large conductor off Starter Relay B. My Relay B was making a faint click as compared to Relay A and it turned out B was not moving the contact plunger at all (just a small disk in the bottom of the relay was clicking). I can probably link to my trouble shooting path on my other forum if needed. Also check your fuses there are a couple involved in the starter relay related circuits. Don't panic and refer to: http://gl1800riders.com/forums/5-gl1800 ... pin-2.html

BTW I also panicked that my 2002 starter was bad... in the end it was just fine after 120k miles. While waiting for the Starter Relays to arrive I jump tested the starter by touching the rear starter Relay B heavy gauge wire to the battery's positive post and it cranked immediately (a sigh of relief followed).

plate of the saddle bag I see two move near the top of this back plate but can,t take them off through the saddle bag, I would
have to some how go behind the fender to get to them I guess. the bike is a 07 and has a kit on the back end if that helps I am getting

Remove the seat if not already done. the bolts that hold it on are in the grab handles. one of the saddle bag bolts is on top of the bag on the outside of the bag and the other is inside the bag towards the upper rear the two bottom bolts are inside the bag at the bottom towards the front and rear may need to pull out bottom liners of bags to find them
