I-Phone music problem
Hi all, experience an issue today that I could not figure out when I plug my iPhone 5 in to the 2012 gold wing cable in the trunk it automatically defaults to iTunes music and starts playing whatever music you have chosen on the iPhone. The problem is I was using an app for motorcycles called scenic rides as a talking GPS, I could not get the music on I Tunes to turn off or put it on pause so that I could hear the GPS App from scenic rides, any info is greatly appreciated

If you use the USB connector in the trunk, the system treats it as an ipod. You can only play the music. (period) And you can control it with the controls on the left side bar,
If you want to use other features, you need to use the AUX input in the left hand front pocket. If you do not have one, you can buy one at cyclemax (they carry both oem and aftermarket) and install it in the existing connector under the pocket. POC. The AUX input and Power connectors are in the harness under the pocket.
I also installed a power outlet at the same time (also at cyclemax, also under the left pocket) to charge the phone. I opted for twin USB power to power two devices.

Thanks that’s good info. I’m formiluar with plugs under the left front faring pocket. The odd thing is when I have it plugged in to the USB cable and the rear trunk I can hear the GPS (on the I phone app) talking but at the same time the music is playing that’s why I was asking if there’s a way to pause or mute that music from playing so I could just hear the GPS. Thanks again for your input very helpful

Both apps seem to be running at the same time. I guess that's why you're hearing both. You could probably close iTunes, but my guess is that you'd have to do that after turning on the bike since I think it will automatically open iTunes. There may even be a setting on the phone which would prevent it from opening like that unless you actually select the app.TWOWHEELCOWBOY wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 11:01 pm Thanks that’s good info. I'm pretty sure that when connected in the trunk, it treats the iPhone as an iPod, bypassing the iTunes and directly playing the music on the phone. That's why I don't use it anymore. As far has having another app going, I can't speak to that as I haven't tried it.

Re: I-Phone music problem
When I first got my wing I wanted to listen to music from my iPhone and use the navigation app. I. Tried the USB connection in the trunk with no success. I ended up using the wiring under the left side fairing pocket. I also ran a power supply along with an aux input up to the left side handlebar. I use a ram mount to hold the phone so I can see it . The phone plays music then mutes the music and plays the navigation audio instructions. Then returns to playing music.
This worked for what I wanted at the time.
I then wanted to do all this and in addition be able to use my phone for calls. I got a sena20s that fits all the requirements that I needed. In addition I can communicate with fellow riders as a bonus.

Ditto, next on the agenda, either the Sena Freewire, or a 2018 'wing, whichever costs more.

Thanks Scooter, I did after a couple of ph calls figured it out. To get the Apply Car Play to work, you have to make sure the Blue tooth on the Phone is TURNED OFF. Otherwise the phone will sync to the head set on helmet, what needs to happen is the helmet has to sync to the bike, and then when you plug the phone in via USB cable the Apple car play will show up in the dash.
