I haven't used it myself but there are well known and respected Goldwing Wrenches on several Goldwing forums that swear by its use as a positive benefit for our transmissions and the ghost shift (out of 5th gear) issue. Of course not every transmission has the issue develop so how they determined it to be beneficial is a point of contention. They haven't noted any negative issues, other than it be pricey and nearly always a mail order product. I have a symptom free 02 myself and I haul a trailer over 50% of the time and I don't use it. All I do is ensure I change oil regularly and use good quality motorcycle oil with LUCAS Pure Synthetic Oil Stabilizer added (10% by volume).
Same thing here, even the same bike, and it pulls the trailer in my avatar more than it goes without it.
The PO used a dino oil, I used Rotella T-5 10w30 last year, and changed to T-6 5w30 this year.
Reason for that is the 01-05 Goldwings have a
potential to shear the ADG which will cause you to buy a new engine. At 114,000 miles, that has not occurred, and those who are knowledgeable in that arena, tell me that if it has not by now, it is not likely to. Whatever, I choose to get a 5w-X oil so that at startup, there will be little if any reluctance for the alternator to not spin in cold temperatures.
If you own an 01-05, it would be wise to never touch the throttle when starting the engine until after it has idled back down on its' own... Opening the throttle the minute it cranks up on a cold morning is asking for a sheared ADG
