How to remove the Oxygen Sensor?

Post by mattstecher »

The Fault Indicator (FI) on my '01 1800 has let me know that the left O2 Sensor is acting up with 2 long and 2 short blinks (or a code of 24).

I have the 1800 manual and it does not really give any advice for simply pulling an O2 Sensor. I am hoping not to have to drop the entire exhaust system and would really like to avoid the dealer repair charges.

I have pulled the exhaust shield on the left side and this gives me minimal access from below, to the sensor itself, but I am unable to reach the wiring harness connection.

Anyone have any tips or tricks for pulling it?

Thanks,
Matt

You have to remove the top shelter to get to the connector, other than that what you see is what you get. 2 long and 2 short is code 22 BTW.

To find the instructions Service Manual > index > O2 sensor. In my manual 5-103.

As Matt says, remove shelter, and sensor. 17mm combo is probably the correct wench size. Because their torque is not high, and a combo wrench can be to long, at times I've used a 6" cresent wrench.

Thanks Guys,
That got me to the right place in the service manual and it is 2 long and 4 short for 24.
