Mempfis Shades windshield vent install problem
Hello All, my 1st post but I am impressed with the site and the members. I have a new to me 2015 gl1800 and over the past few months have been making it "my own" by adding lots of goodies. Just replaced the OEM windshield with a Memphis Shades standard w/ vent. The shield was easy but, have been unable to get the vent installed. Any tips, suggestions, comments, or other helpful info??? I'm at the point of considering putting the vent in hot water to expand it a bit so the 2 pieces will fit together in the shield cutout. ? The vent fits together just fine while its in hand but not so much when in the shield. Thanks for any help! John

Re: Mempfis Shades windshield vent install problem
Did you buy it from a vendor or a private party? Did it come with the vent when you bought it?
Not all vents are exactly the same size. A vent from a Honda OEM shield may not fit an aftermarket shield or visa versa.

Re: Mempfis Shades windshield vent install problem
Hi MikeB, I ordered new shield and vent from my local dealer. Verified that the part numbers were correct for each other. Both are new Memphis Shades parts. Seems its just a overly tight fit connecting the 2 vent pieces while in the shield cutout opening. Or maybe its just me!

Why not email Memphis Shades customerservice@memphisshades.com and tell them of the issue. Maybe they can shed some light on the problem.

Re: Mempfis Shades windshield vent install problem
I did try to call them today but as I expected not there on Sunday. Was hoping to get the vent installed today so I could go for a ride, since that didn't happen I think the quickest solution will be to go back to the shop and have them put it in on Tuesday. G/W Docs was worth a try, thought someone may have known of a little trick I could try. Thanks for your reply and suggestion.

Re: Mempfis Shades windshield vent install problem
I took the bike to my local shop this morning, they had the vent installed in 5 minutes. There is something to be said for experience.

Re: Mempfis Shades windshield vent install problem
Sometimes, laying the windscreen on a flat surface while putting pressure on it to flatten it out a little helps.
