Wrinkled Windshield Tape

Post by rick3015 »

I am replacing the windshield on my '08 1800. The two 13" pieces of tape that are attached to the Visor A Meter Panel the windshield slides against when adjusted it up and down are seriously wrinkled, which has put a lot of rub marks on the windshield. Obviously I don't want the same thing to happen to the new windshield. Does anyone know if this OEM tape has to be used or will electrical tape work as a replacement. The OEM tape cost better than $11 for each 13" piece, ridiculous.

Electrical tape would be a bad choice. Some remove the tape running across the top of the visor and replace it with the soft sided velcro. Once installed, many aftermarket windscreens will no longer move up/down. How are the rest of the tapes ???

I ordered a Memphis Shades windshield. The rest of the tapes are good.

As thick as the velcro is, compared to the tape, I am surprised it would work.
Are you saying once the Velcro is installed some aftermarket windshield won't slide up and down, or that in general some won't move even with the oem tape?
