2006 gl1800

Hey guys ..new to the group..i bought a new to me 2006 gl1800..the upper fairing stay that the mirrors screw onto is bent..can any one tell me if the fairing stays on these units are physically different and unusuable between model years...seems the part number is the same 2001 -2005..then 2006 to 2012.. Are they physically different and unswappable..

The part number changed, so I would guess that they are.

Yes, if you look at any Honda GoldWing repair manual you will find that they all refer to the GL1800 2001 to 2005. Then a lot of things changed so they refer to the GL1800 2006 to 2010. Again Honda made some big changes in the Wing. So, they didn't make a Wing in 2011. The next reference in your maintenance manual references the GL1800 2012 to 2016. And guess what, they skipped another year and came out with the GL1800 2018.

With all that said, your GL1800 being a 2006, you will only be able to swap your bent pieces with another GL1800 2006 to 2010 model.

Thanx guys..original plan was to try and find a good used part..having worked honda automotive for many years i know that often numers get superceded or changed for minor changes such as color change .this was the reason for my post ..in the end no good used found so new one was ordered ..

Between the 05 and 06 model their is likely a change as the speakers changed size with the premium audio. My guess is anything 01-05 would be different from 06-10. I'd seek 06 to 10 model only.
