I need to change my Battery on the GL1800 2nd GEN. Changing the battery is not a big deal UNLESS I have to remove the *%^&^% seat.
I HATE putting the STOCK seat back on that friggin bike. I have the tapered screws. You know it's bad when somebody came up with the idea of tapered screws.
Geez, I hate putting those screws back in that &(*^&* seat. Have I mentioned that before?
Anyway - with a GEN2 Stock seat - is there enough clearance to remove the Battery and put a new one in without removing the seat?

Just pull the left side cover, no need to remove the seat. I've never had any trouble with the seat screws.

Me either, just the side panel.
Once screw off the vertical brace and it "falls out"....
assuming you removed the cables from the terminals.

Here's a tip for putting the seal back on.....tapered screw tip not necessary. I have a long "t"-handled allen wrench with the ball tip on the end. When I go to put the seat back on, I'll put the allen wrench through the seat's side hole and into the threaded frame hole. Hold the seat still and in position, remove the wrench and insert the bolt, turning it by hand only so you don't cross thread it. It's easy and fast. I think that the tapered tipped bolts is not the way to go as it promotes cross threading...just my opinion of course.stan0614 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 20, 2018 3:10 pm I need to change my Battery on the GL1800 2nd GEN. I agree. You can use a #2 phillips screwdriver to line up the holes too.
