Hi all,
I changed my front tire and spread the front calipers to reinstall the front tire. Now my caliper is rubbing on my pads until I ride for about a 1/2 hour. Any suggestions on fixing this or will it go away on its own?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Front caliper rubbing brake pads
Have you tried flushing the front brake system? If you had the brake recall done, they would have flushed the rears, but not necessarily the front. You may have some dirt clogging the return passages, or you might just have a bit too much fluid in the front system. If brake fluid had been added to compensate for the older worn down pads, this could be the case.

Make sure the spacers are in correctly and the axle has been installed and tightened according to the manual.

Re: Front caliper rubbing brake pads
Make sure your left brake caliper is properly centered. Before tightening the axle pinch bolts on the left fork leg it may be moved in or out on the axle to center the caliper to the disc. If not centered correctly the caliper can rub the disc. See link to manual for more info.

I hope this is of some help to you.

On the left side if you dont align the axle line correctly the caliper bracket depending on how far off the alignment is will rub on the rotor and sound like pads rubbing.

Re: Front caliper rubbing brake pads
Thanks to all for your help. Since the bike has not had the rear brake recall, I shall take the bike in for the recall and fix the front wheel problem.
Everyone's post makes perfect sense unfortunately I'm not mechanically inclined to try all of these remedies.
I shall post the outcome of this after I get the bike back so we can all hopefully learn from this. (Epecially me.)

You probably mean that the left front rotor rubs the left caliper ???
If so, when you do take it in for the recall, be sure to mention your complaint and not assume that they will discover and fix it. Depending on the shop, they may or may not remove the front wheel.

Yes that's right Greg. Thanks for the tip. I have an appointment for 8:00 Saturday morning.
Is the left caliper adjustable? I watched a You Tube video and they mentioned when reinstalling the front tire something about adjusting the caliper.
