Relays?

Post by snb290 »

I recently traded my 96 GL1500 for a 2010 GL1800. I had purchased a couple of relays for the 96. Does the 1800 use the same relays? If not, should I buy something to carry??

Hope to see some of you in Sturgis this year. I'll be the one on the Canary Yellow Trike.

Thanks,
Steven

The relays are different between the GL1500 and GL1800. If you like to carry spare relays, you will have to buy new ones that will fit the GL1800.

Thanks so much. Obviously, I don't know much about my trike. But I'm learning. Hopefully not the hard way!

I recently bought my first 1800 and the relays are different but cheaper. Cyclemax sells them and I recently bought one of the cheapest ones for now.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

There’s enough relays on the 1800 to always be able to borrow one from another system to get you home. For example, the headlight height adjusting relay is only used if you need to change the height of the beams and can be used in a lot of other relay spots. There are only a few relays that would really keep you from running down the road. The fuel pump relay and the FI/Ignition relay are critical and so is the FI unit/LAF relay and LAF sense relay on the 06 and up models.
