gl1800 not starting no spark

gl1800 not starting no spark
Rats ate up my wiring living in front under aie vents, some wire are eaten others have insulation stripped back, it there hope of me rewiring this project, all plastic is off bike. can i resolder heat shrink wrap and start this project. the main lower harness has the most problems. Can u buy a new harness and where from, approx cost if known. can this be done without dropping the motor, thanks

If you have not completed this job yet. Yes you can solder and heat shrink. A new wire harness could be next to impossible.

A new harness is over $1200, I could do a lot of fixing for that.

im in fl so waiting for a few cool nights to start this project. will probably resolder and shrink wrap , hope for the best.

Yes ... it can all be done without removing the engine. As for a proper repair ... most professional shops will replace the harness. The reason comes down to liability. If it were being done under warrantee, Honda would insist on a new harness. Back in the 60's and 70's everything was 12v, however now a days, many of those wires are considered data links and run off low voltage, and any small amount of resistance in a particular circuit, might cause running/stalling issues.

IMHO, if you want a proper running bike that you can depend on, Replace the wiring harness... It's possible to find one on EBay or at a MC Salvage Yard.....
