Air Filter in 2002 1800 dirty?

Post by AlanB »

My buddy just came up with a good idea that I hadn't heard before. Because the changing of the air filter in my 1800 is basically a long, detailed affair that I think should have been engineered much more easily, he used a kind of bore scope attached to his iphone. He ran the long, thin probe into the air intake back to the air filter and was able to see on his iphone screen if the filter appeared dirty enough to change out or not. Took 2 minutes and saved him 3 or 4 hours of work! This may be a common solution out there but I had not heard of it so I was mightily impressed.

Yup, someone else was just talking about this, and had the same idea - you can see some of his borescope pictures here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=43351

Turns out it was my buddy that posted that and I didn't know it. Sorry for the duplication.
