OBD Tool for GL1800 2005-2008

Has anyone tried using this OBD tool to interface the ECM to a laptop? http://www.obd2eshop.com/wholesale/obd- ... ycles.html

For $59 and free shipping [from China no less], I find it a tempting gamble. I'm not having any ECM problems with my 2005 trike, but as an owner of two Honda automobiles, I figure it is a matter of time before some low level code appears [fuel system evap issues, etc].

dunno about other year models

that said, the FI light traps all of the codes we have available anyway.
and when my '02 started giving out Left Knock Sensor fail code lights,
some diagnosis proved that the sensor and the wiring was good, all the way to the input connector on the ECM.

Dave Ogden and I removed the ECM and noted that it was potted with brick hard epoxy or something like that, and not repairable. I found a used one from a 2004, plugged it in, and back in business. No fault codes.

That tool might come in handy for something, someday, but mostly the flash codes will suffice. Even with the tool you can't determine whether there is a bad component or a bad ECM, you have to determine that manually.

Interesting ... it will probably work on 2004-10s.

It says it gives actual reading too. For me the problem is that it works with Window, and I quit using Windows long ago.

Get it, try it, and report back.
