Leg Up Landing Gear by Chopper Designs
I have weak legs from a stroke and ride a GL 1800. I have not been able to ride much in the year and a half since the stroke. I was planning to have Leg Up Landing Gear installed next month, but became concerned when my buddy did not see them at Wing Ding this year. Does anyone have recent experience with this product?

I had a side car once, have ridden a Goldwing trike and bought a Can Am Spyder to get me by until I can get back on two wheels. I don’t like any of them much. I ride to lean into the corners and have for more than fifty years. No sidecar.

Re: Leg Up Landing Gear by Chopper Designs
Landing Gear Update - I bought the Landing Gear and had it installed. Tried riding and found I still could not control the bike well enough to be safe. I returned the Landing Gear to Chopper Designs, who resold it for me as used. They were very cooperative and I still believe the Landing Gear might work for someone with weak or short legs, but no stroke or other impairments.
I sold the two-wheeled GL 1800 and bought a one-year newer GL with a Hannigan trike kit. I still struggle with the left-side controls but get by. My wife and I have ridden about 2500 miles this summer, up to 200 miles in a day. I miss leaning, but don’t miss the fear of falling.

Re: Leg Up Landing Gear by Chopper Designs
I looked at the leg up landing gear before I bought my Trike. I looked at them for quite some time. At the time I was riding a Heritage classic and I would have to give up at least half of my left saddle bag. Storage on a Heritage is kind of scarce so half a bag is quite a lot. Plus I had a J&M CB mounted where the Leg Up Landing gear console had to go. Wife and I talked it over and the two of us came up with the same conclusion. At some point I would forget to actuate the gear and roll up to a light or stop and fall over. In the long run I decided it would be best on 3 wheels.
Wish all the best recovering from the stroke.
I understand exactly how you feel, relieving that stress was a big relief.I miss leaning, but don’t miss the fear of falling.

You could always trike a dct model, no left leg controls to worry about!

Used trikes are expensive, about the same as a mid-price new car, but a new one.... triking a DCT can break $50 grand, what I paid for the motorhome that tows my trike in it’s enclosed trailer.

The trike dealer around here is triking a DCT for around $37K, and he can't keep them in stock.

Yes that is the walk out price with no trade or anything. Given my buddy traded in a 2018 Ultra limited this past summer for a tri-glide and it cost him over $32K. A new Tri-glide MSRP is around $40K I believe so I figure the 37K is right in the ball park. The good thing is the Honda comes with more features, The bad thing is you can't get a factory model trike you have to add a kit.
