The first I would suggest is a dirty switch not making all the contact, just parcel contact. Use electronic spray cleaner, spray from the outside in and see if that helps.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

That happened too me I cleaned out the switch but no dice so replaced the entire switch assembly..And while I was at it swapped in new throttle cables. A bit of a tedious job but if your comfortable working on the bike you can do it.

Well getting the throttle cables off was difficult..You have to disconnect them from the throttle body which means tearing the bike down past the airbox..And then one cable is held in a small stay which is held to the frame by a 8mm,if I remember correctly bolt. That was sorta tight as I recall..Thats why I replaced the cables the same time as the switch cluster..Got all the parts from Bikebandit. saved a few bucks right there! You really need a service manual for this unless you take many many many pictures of it all as it come apart, as the cables, switch wiring has to be run EXACTLY as it came from the factory to avoid any interference.

Do you have to buy the over $200 switch to get the reverse switch? That's what it looks like in the OEM cataloging.

There are 2 ways to fix. The first way is to open the right switch assembly up and then pull loose the reverse on/off switch to clean it, inspect it, and then lube it with an electrical lubricant. The better way is to replace the entire right hand switch assembly. Honda does not sell individual switches within the assembly, so the whole assembly must be replace.
