Current windshield will not stay in upper position, which is where I prefer it, seems to vibrate down as you ride. Is it possible to affix it in the upper position, at least until I can afford to fix it properly??
As I am not that computer literate (even had trouble finding my way around this forum), it would be appreciated if contact would be via email at lap0276@gmail.com and then direct me from there.
Much appreciated,
Thanks
Larry Pearson

you will have to remove the front trim pieces to gain access to the screws....
maybe the felt has worn off of the guide rails?
there are screws that control the tension of the slides....
you must start with the rubber trim pieces around the mirrors, fold them back and remove those screws..... V E R Y CAREFULLY
drop one, and you will never see it again. push a white cotton rag, T-Shirt down into that area below where the screws are, so if you do drop one, you can find it again.
don't bother asking me how I know this

The windshield is supposed to sit on a stop at each position. If you are raising it all the way up and not letting it sit on the last stop it has reset the ratchet that lets it slide back down.

As the windscreen rises and lowers, it cocks it self in 2 positions. All the way up, will cause a springed cam to toggle over and allow it to lower. All the way down, releases the lever and allows the shield to ratchet into 4 levels as it is raised. Basically, there are 5 levels ... all the way down is one of them, and 4 others as it rises. If it is working correctly, release the 2 levers on each side, pull it all the way up, slide it all the way down, and as you rise it you should hear the other 4 ratchet points.
There are ways that I know of that will cause a shield not to rise and rathet:
- sometimes cam, b. falls out. Part #25 in the link below
- various aftermarket windscreen manufactures will disable the mechanism to no longer functions
- other aftermarket windscreen manufactures will cut the lower part of the windscreen in a way that will not allow the cam to **** back into the ratcheting position
- many aftermarket screens are to fat to slide
- sometime the slide tape that the screen slides on get all twisted up

Thanks for the info. Will investigate further when I return to Canada. Bike has been "put to bed" for the winter as I will be out of country for awhile.
Appreciate the reply. Hoping it is a fix I can do without going to a dealer and paying an arm and a leg to have fixed.
