Swap 2008 radio to 2009/2010
I like the idea of having XM built into the factory stereo, but that option was only offered in 2009 & 2010 on the first gen 1800. That being said, I'm wondering if it's possible to install a 2009/2010 radio on a 2008 knowing that I'd have to hook an external XM antenna to it, which isn't a problem so as long as the radio would accept a external XM antenna plug like the ones which are used on the portable XM units you see attached to handlebars. My 1800 has the Navi option, so I'd have to find a radio from a Navi bike as well. Has anyone done this?

I doubt anyone has done it. The antenna connection is not aftermarket quality, but OEM grade, and is completely different. It's similar to your NAVI antenna's connector. Also, to install the antenna, a later version visor and antenna bracket is required.
