Just spreading the word here...With almost 199,000 on my beloved 06. I had Honda check, for the first time ever, the valve clearance. Only three were far enough out of spec to need adjustment. So looking at the numbers they supplied to me, another check around 300K would be a good idea. I have seen very little complaint on any site about 1800 valves needing any kind of real attention and now I see why..A pleasant suprise

Very nice and good to know. My 07 has 62k miles and I was going to check it this winter for its first time but reading other post I decided not to. Maybe next year or the year after.

I just did the double over head valve engine on my 2000 Tacoma and was a bit surprised to see how the valves had tightened up over the years. With the exhaust much tighter than the intakes which makes sense since they run hotter. So was a little surprised to see the three on the wing out of spec were intake?? So I dunno?? So anyway I figure ill go too 300K before checking them again.
Now tomorrow I will pull the fairing and dig out the injectors. Sending them out for a pro cleaning. I'm promised a graph report showing how they flow before cleaning and then after they are checked and cleaned. Should be interesting? I will post my results......

For faster startups, better mpg, smoother running, and better throttle response, be sure to have them center spec'd. The difference is noticeable. Nothing beats an equal amount of fuel going in and equal amount or exhaust going out.

Center spec'd? Not sure what you mean by that Greg? I know he will flow test them before anything else is done to establish a base. My local Honda dealer did the valves. But because I have new fog lamps and driving lights I removed them and the lower cowl pieces and INNER FAIRINGS so the tech wouldn't have to mess with my extras. The big fairing stayed in place. There are a few injector cleaner guys out there, I'm going Mr Injector up in Idaho. He has a web site and u-tube video check him out. His charge with return shipping and insurance will be $125 plus my shipping at this end which will be priority. I have no idle/power issues with my bike. My reason is, this as no different than back in the day when I had a bike with multiple carbs and having to sync them. At almost 200K I felt it was time to give the valves and injectors a little love.

Not sure what you mean by flow testing the valves. That's usually done if the heads are being polished and ported. As for center spec ... setting all intakes to 0.006" and all exhaust to 0.009". That's done for 2 reasons ... better running, and Honda engineers know that during any 32,000 mile period, the most any will drop out of center spec is by 0.001" ... thus the +-. Oh your talking about the valves..I thought you were responding to what I'm doing with the injectors. My mistake.
Honda got the valves as close as possible with the shim sizes available. I'm happy with the results.
