Hazard switch replacement

I have the stuck hazard switch issue and was looking at just replacing that switch. I found the article (http://www.rattlebars.com/chetswing/anytime4ways.html) about installing a separate flasher but am a little confused. Do I just cut out the old switch or leave it and splice into it.

I have a pink, green, blue, and gray wire going to the switch. Then another green and brown wire going to the light in the switch. I was planning on just cutting wires but I'm not sure which wires do what.
