Clean oil sump on non-starting 2001 gl barn find

Purchased 2001 gl. It was sitting in a barn and hasn't been started in 8 years. Has some mechanical issue.
How do I clean the oil sludge from the sump, when it doesn't start and warm up the oil?

I would drain the existing oil, then fill with a few cans (yes, a few) of Seafoam - let that fill some of the sump, perhaps let it sit for a day to dissolve the sludge, then drain that out as well. Fill with some nasty cheap Walmart oil to dilute any remaining Seafoam, drain that out, and then fill with a quality oil for the first start-up.

It is best to not crank it over. Start by removing the fuel cap and inspect the filler neck under the cap ... any rust ??? If so, it can require a lot of work the get it running.

Hope you will pull all the plastic off and strip it down as far as possible looking for chewed wires?
