Went back to stock footpegs (almost)

Post by beastwood »

When I got my 2006 GL1800 last fall, it had quite a few aftermarket accessories on it. I like just about all of them except the Kuryakin chrome footpegs. They are nice looking but I didn't like the foot position. I compared them to the stock pegs and realized they are about a half inch higher. This gave me a problem getting under the shifter for the one two shift. Also, rear braking was uncomfortable because the downward motion seemed a bit too far for comfort.
So, I ordered a set of used stock pegs from Motolane Cycle and Salvage in Illinois. The stock pegs don't have the chrome mounting bracket, it looks like powder coated metal. So I decided to create a hybrid. I 'm using the chrome mounting brackets with the stock pegs. Now I have the right height and still have chrome brackets. See pics below.

The first picture shows the Kuryakin next to the stock peg.

The second picture shows the hybrid peg installed!
