Ice Coolant

My 2003 GL1800 was having fluctuating operating temperatures. The mechanic found that the coolant level was low. He topped off the cooling system with "Ice" Coolant. All is good now.
Has anyone else ever used this coolant or heard of it? Very good reviews online about this product.

I used something similar in my 68 396 SS Chevelle. Its supposed to help with heat transfer. But if you find as it gets a little warmer your temp is still fluctuating. Verify that your radiator cap will hold pressure.

I've heard of ICE coolant, some of the guys in the Porsche community used that when installing the Stage 3 supercharger in the 968.

The other product they used was "Water Wetter", an additive to your normal coolant mix that makes heat transfer more efficient.

I have not heard of either product being used in the Goldwing engine, but I haven't been around that long either.

Your cooling system should be checked for any leaks. First, test the radiator cap. Then pressure test the cooling system itself. I find it best to do 2 pressure tests, a low and a high. A low pressure test is 6-8psi of pressure. I find it best to leave it at that pressure for 3-4hrs. If no leaks are seen, then do a high test ... 16-20psi. Again, do that test for 3-4 hours. If your Wing has a belly pan, the pan needs to come off first.

As with many systems on 5th gens, usually stuff is neglected. According to Honda, your cooling system should be on its 7th coolant change. Hopefully, yours is not getting neglected.

The dealer advised me that he had performed a pressure test on the system. The rad cap was changed recently after noticing the fluctuating operating temperatures. The mechanic believes that an incorrect coolant was previously used. The bike is running fine as it did prior to my rad flush 2 years ago. This is my third season on this bike.
