Seat length
Hi, sold the old GL1200 and bought a ‘14 GL1800. Beautiful all black bike but the seat is too short. I’m 6’3” 275. The distance as pointed out in the pic is too short. Everything else about the seat is fine I don’t get sore but my “crotch” gets crunched. Any ideas?

Re: Seat length
You can either find someone who rebuilds seats, and they can give you some more room, or look into Corbin, Ultimate, Mustang or Saddleman seats. I think they all have what is known as a King seat that gives the driver more room, stealing it from the passenger. Having your OEM seat rebuilt is often the least expensive solution.

Re: Seat length
Modifying your seat would be a cheaper route and to move the seat back an inch or more your going to get into your backrest.
You could possibly find a used seat and modify it cheaper than aftermarket.

Re: Seat length
Throw a bead seat on it first, it'll raise you up and back and provide critical ventilation. It's only $15 and you'll want it on there anyway eventually.
I'm 6' and I had "chafing and binding" issues that were helped immensely by the bead seat. For the really long days, LD Comfort is a blessing, and this year I'll be trying the Duluth Bullpens as a cheaper but hopefully no less effective deterrent to monkey butt.

Re: Seat length
Had an '08 1800, I'm 6'2 and 220. The seat was modified to suit, extra 2 inches added to the seat and moved back 2 inches. Used the same seat skin. Huge difference. Before work was done, knees were only about an inch from the front fairing, and I was getting pinched between the shoulder blades, very uncomfortable. Once the seat was modified, these issues went away. Good luck.

On the underwear subject I bought Duluth trading buck naked boxer briefs last year and they solved alot of my problems with that.

Re: Seat length
The beaded seat is what took care of the problem for me on the GL1800 seat.

Re: Seat length
Hey thanks a bunch. Now a new problem. I’ll post a new thread about floorboards.
