Another PMT question

Post by AhhHellGoldwing »

I have not called Progressive as of yet. I thought I had figured out what my issue was but after researching more I am still stumped. So Back in February a buddy and myself installed the complete Progressive setup. PMT's up front with new All Balls bearing in the steering stem, Rear Progressive spring in the rear. The rear rides great. I did the fluid top off before hand and since I added the spring I ride around on 0 all day long. Just me riding at 225pounds. Now, the front rode great in the beginning. I did bottom out hitting a dip in the road on the test run but thought nothing of it as it was a significant dip. Now I feel like I am plowing through the air. Back feels higher than the front, I hit the brakes and the anti dive is not working again and I bottom out the suspension. I took the liberty of doing spring sag and I have roughly 2 25/32" of sag with my full extension being 5 15/16". My buddy thought we figured the issue out in being it was no enough fluid as Manual calls for Left 526.5-531.5cc Right 482.5-487.5cc. I found my instructions for the PMT's and it says Left 330cc and Right 200cc. So if that is correct that is the amount of fluid I have in it. Going in a straight line it rides nice and smooth, Bumpy roads I can tell it is dampening but I am worried I will bottom out again as I have once or twice since test run and I have about 1k on the suspension since upgrade.

Anyone have any thoughts? My kit did not come with any spacers so I have none installed. I also only reused the Teflon seal I replaced all other bushings and fork seals.

It could be that one of the pmt lost or didn't have a gas charge in it. Also the oil should be set by height more than quantity. And isn't the anti dive disabled with a mono shock installe ?

I have the progressive springs and not the pmt in my bike so there's that.

Will do, hopefully good considering I have had them for 6 months and less than 1500 miles.

OK finally got time to remove my PMTs. I was sitting 2 7/8" from lower triple tree clamp to top of rubber seal, also found the left side anti dive side to jave what looks like grease drizzled over the end of it. I will try to post pics. I also found the new bushing I installed to have failed as well.

So, guy at Progressive says new set will be sent out next week. One of the tubes (left side my guess) leak nitrogen out. So getting a fresh set sent to me.
