Harmonic noise while cornering

Post by Tangsoodo2135 »

I have a 2005 Gl1800 with 23,000 miles on it that I recently purchased. When I am cornering at 35-40 MPH, I can hear and feel a harmonic coming through the handle bars. My tires look pretty good however my suspect for noise is from tires. Is this harmonic sound and feel common with my bike or is it probably just tires. After purchasing the bike from a dealer I had them ride it and they told me everything feels normal. :D Thanks for everyone's help.

What is the date code on the tires?

Brand?

Installed in the correct orientation for rotation?

Correct PSI?

Check your tires for cupping. This is a type of wear that commonly happens to the front tires on big bikes. Shine a flashlight at an oblique angle across the front tire. If you see scalloped areas, that's the cause of your noise.

Unbalanced tires and underinflated tires exacerbate the problem.

Thank you everyone, my tires are from July 2015 and they are flat in the center of the tire. Assuming this is safe to ride on and just an annoyance I am going to ride this season on the rear tire and replace the front tire this season and the rear next season.
