I went for weekend ride about 500 miles. Last 60 was pretty hard rain. Pulled bike into garage when I got home. A minute after turning bike off I tried to restart to move it and won't start. Turn key and lights, stereo, console all come on. Push start button and everything goes dead and it makes a slight clicking noise. Hooked up bat tender and it indicates battery not charging. Can battery go dead just like that? Don't have a tester. Thoughts?

sometimes a battery will give you some warning in the form of a slow crank. other times, yes, it can go dead without warning. you could probably get it tested at a parts store, but from the sounds of it, your battery tender is trying to tell you something ... assuming that your battery/solenoid/starter connections are clean and tight.

My first thought is a loose or dirty battery connection.
I've seen that exact thing happen before for that reason.

Yes ... a battery can go dead like that. However, to really know, the battery needs tested, and its connections need cleaned and tighten.
FYI ... it is best to not use a battery tender. They may extend battery life, but they also can give false hope when disconnecting and going for a ride ... of course it cranks over well in the garage, it was just taken off a charger. In your case, you got home and discovered a problem. The same could have happened 500 miles from home. In a 5th gen Wing, a health battery will crank that Wing over just fine even if it has not been ridding in the last 30 days.
No where in the Owner's Manual does it advise to keep your Wing on a tender. It does offer long-term storage info, if your Wing is gonna be stored for a couple of months +, be sure to consult the Owner's Manual.
