iPhone read as an iPod

Post by SARGE63W »

I have a 2015 goldwing 40th anniversary. I am wondering if any one has been able to connect their phone to the USB port in the trunk to be read as an iPod. Mine will connect for a couple minutes then the USB icon goes away and phone stops charging. Once I connect a thumb drive back to it, nothing happens.
Also is there anywhere I can download German maps for the GPS? I do not want to have to pay 300€ for a German mapset. I am not opposed to using my phone for maps and have swapped the cigarette socket with the usb charger and have the adapter to charge and listen to music.

On my 2013, I use my iPhone connected to the USB in the trunk almost exclusively for music, it shows as an iPod, on mine I have to hit the AUX button twice for it to play my Pandora stations or my prerecorded music.

I have never tried to use the maps app on my iPhone while on the bike, use my Garmin for directions.

before you hook plug in your i-phone, try disabling the auto-lock (brightness and display). mine also only reads the phone as ipod.
 I know people say we spend too much money on our rides, but I can't hear them when I'm 1000 miles away!
