GL1800 chattering rear brake
I found this topic on the forum, because I've been having this problem with my '15 for the last couple years, especially as the air temperature rises to 80 or better. Doesn't seem to be a problem if it's cool/cold out. Yes I've had the recall done and it started sometime after that. I suspected air in the lines and the forum has pretty much confirmed that's the issue. One writer mentioned a banjo fitting in a difficult place that needs bleeding. What I didn't find were any responses that confirmed that performing a thorough bleeding in fact cured the problem. Can anyone comment on that? Does that fix it? Is it covered in the shop manual? Can it be done at home with simple tools? Thanks for any help here.

Re: GL1800 chattering rear brake
How soon after the brake GL1800 Service Bulletin #23 was done did the chattering start?
Did you mention it to the shop that did the service? Did you ask them to re-bleed it? That would be what I would have done.
If you did not, then you can flush the brakes yourself following the steps in the service bulletin or the service manual.
As to special tools, I put speed bleeders in my calipers to ease the process. Makes it a true one person operation.

Re: GL1800 chattering rear brake
The rear brake chatter is very elusive. No matter how a 5th gen is bled, it still remains an elusive problem, and many, even after they think it is fix it will later find out that their issue is still there. As you have stated, it is a hot climate problem. There is only one correction for the rear brake chatter, and that is to use both front and rear brakes instead of just the rear. If you do lots of research, it still boils down to an issue that is not correctable other operating the Wing as it is intended to be operated ... use both brakes.

Re: GL1800 chattering rear brake
Mine was doing that until I had the brake recall done. They used a pressure bleeder and it cured the problem. Before all I had to do was just touch the front brake, not even enough to feel it and it didn't chatter.
