2018/19 Gold Wing model name

This may seem silly, but how long are we going to refer to the latest GL1800s using the year? Granted Honda did a "clean sheet" redesign on the Wing, but it is one cc larger in total displacement and the model is still GL1800. When Honda updated the "old" bikes we took to calling them "Gen 1" and Gen 2". In my humble opinion, as it's still a GL1800, clean sheet or not, shouldn't these be "Gen 3"? If Honda follows it's past practice, they'll be building this version of the Gold Wing for another 15 years at least. The designation will get pretty tedious if it's still going by years (GL1800 2018/19/20/21/22/23/24/25/26......). I suppose GL1800 2018+ would work also. Just wondering.........

As to generations of Gold Wings, I like to think of them like this;
Gen 1 - GL1000
Gen 2 - GL1100
Gen 3 - GL1200
Gen 4 - GL1500
Gen 5 - GL1800 (2001 - 2017)
Gen 6 - GL1800, 2018 to present.

They are all Gold Wings, just different engine displacement.
