This is off my left mirror. The red plug is on both my right and left mirrors.
First what type connector is that?
It’s connecting to a wire going back into the bike. I have no idea where yet. Haven’t been able to trace it yet. It’s connected to the single wire, not the two next to each other. It says it’s connected to ground. I’d like to reconnect it and leave it at that since it doesn’t seem to hurt anything.
Any ideas appreciated.
Question about mirrors.

Re: Question about mirrors.
That is a "vampire tap". An aftermarket insulation displacement connector that someone added to wire up an accessory. (probably some light) They are the bane of bikes everywhere as they often damage the wire and serve as a perfect point for corrosion to start as the blade is steel.

Re: Question about mirrors.
It is most likely a connector that is used to make your trunk brake lights act as turn signals. Normally, only the amber lights in the saddle bags operate as turn signals.
Show Chrome had a kit that would allow all four trunk lights as well as the saddlebag amber lights to flash as turn signals. Do your trunk lights flash when you operate the turn signals? If so, that is what that connector is for.
I have that kit on my 2003. But, I did not use those kit supplied connectors. I solder spliced separate spade connectors to the wires.

Re: Question about mirrors.
To tell the truth, I have not looked to see what flashes. I'll look next time I have a chance. And I agree with the comments that they are not exactly the kind of connection I want. I'll have to redo those soon.
Thank you.

Re: Question about mirrors.
I'd remove those connectors and tape up the wires where they were spliced in.

Goldwinggreg - about your new avatar... Although I am definitely into cowgirls, and that one is nice looking, it is a step down from your previous avatar. That being said, I believe it will reduce your credibility rating,

Re: Question about mirrors.
That's now on my to do list. I know I got lazy and replaced it with another one but I'll get into it when I put on the new rubber boots that I didn't realize they had supplied! lol
