Hello all,
I'm sorry if this has already been answered but i've searched and searched and have not found any discussion on the problem i have.
I just purchased a 2001 GL1800 and the CB controls are just not working 100%. For all 3 handlebar CB controls, moving the levers down, they all do what they are supposed to do. When i move the levers upwards, nothing happens. All 3 are the same. I have sprayed contact cleaner and moved the levers up and down to try and work the cleaner into the connections and that did not solve the issue. I cannot increase the squelch, volume, or make the channels go up.
Anyone here ever see this problem and have a fix?
thanks
Dan

Unless the switch assembly is disassembled and the CB switches lubed from the inside, squirting from the outside does nothing.
Your CB controls are probably not working because of lack of use. The best thing you can do with them is to try moving them in the direction that they don't work 100 times. Be sure the CB is turned on, and watch the info display. Chances are extremely high that if you just start using them, they will self clean. Try pushing harder, maybe to the left and to the right.

Re: 2001 GL1800 CB Radio handlebar controls issue
I figured it out, it's a broken Orange wire. Someone suggested that might be the problem. I took the switches apart and they were all good, they all had continuity. Then i took the radio console out and every wire but the orange one makes it to the radio.

Re: 2001 GL1800 CB Radio handlebar controls issue
i unplugged the 14P connector under the right pocket and had continuity to there and from there to the radio. So I plugged it back in and everything works as it should. must have been a loose connection.
happy as can be now.
