What is that part back there?
'03 GL1800 with a Champion Trike kit. There is a part rattling around back there. It looks to be aluminum, finned, about four inches square, has heavy wires going to it from the battery. I thought it was a voltage regulator but that's in the alt.
It's the part behind and above the red battery protector. My next question is "How do I get to it?" It is loose and rattling around.- MikeB

That is the reverse resistor. It is supposed to securely mounted.

Re: What is that part back there?
Correct. It depends on being securely mounted to the frame in order to drain off some of the heat, so I would avoid using your reverse until it is mounted correctly again.

Champion uses a simple way to mount it. In the screen shot, you'll see a simple black bar that mounts to the battery brackets bolt. Well that didn't come through clear. If you PM me your email address all send you Champions instructions.
