Exhaust Shield Paint
I purchased an 1800 where the previous owner rattle can painted the exhaust shields down by the foot pegs a different color. I'm not a fan of his color choice, so I want to have them repainted back to the original OEM color. If you look up the shields on the Honda parts fiche, the description says that the color is Vernier Gray Metallic, paint code NH168M. My first step was to call Color Rite and see if I could get the paint through them, but they don't sell that color. They have all of the factory colors and frame color, but not the exhaust shield color. I called a local auto parts store that sells automotive paint, and they couldn't do anything with the NH168M paint code. Any ideas as to a source to get Vernier Grey Metallic (NH168M)?

Re: Exhaust Shield Paint
Although I only see 5th gen body colors listed on their page, I believe US Paint was the supplier for it all.

Re: Exhaust Shield Paint
Thanks. I actually called US Paint and they told me that they're not into motorcycle paint anymore.

Re: Exhaust Shield Paint
Most places that sell automotive paint have either color analyzers, like Home Depot or Lowes, so they can match any color, in the old days they had these color cards with an oval hole in the middle, you lay the card up against the paint and switch them until you found a match, if your eyes were good , it work pretty well.
I would think you would be able to find someone with one or both of those technologies available, you would need to find someone with a bike that has OEM paint still on the covers and have them go to the store with you, unless there is some way to strip off a small area on your covers to expose the original paint.
Otherwise check the store here on GoldwingDocs, /Store/New-Used ... -Parts.asp , new parts show up and some times they what you need, you may get lucky and find both sides.

Re: Exhaust Shield Paint
You can always get a can of Honda touch-up paint, and go into various paint centers to have the color matched. Or, if you Wing still has the OEM lower center cowl, have that scanned. Up through at least 2010, they are the same color as your exhaust shields.
